Grands motets pour Louis XV - Les Ombres

A stranger reveals the opulence of the Royal Chapel of Louis XV: Charles-Hubert Gervais was Chapel Master from 1723 onwards, thus offering a perfect representation of the splendour of sacred music at the Court of Versailles. Heir to the great frescoes of Lully and Lalande, Gervais was above all an opera composer, and his dramatic style lends his Grands Motets a decidedly Italian resonance.

After consulting several manuscripts and editions held at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Julien Chauvin has chosen to record Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with soprano Jodie Devos and mezzo Adèle Charvet, as well as a two-part children’s choir (La Maîtrise de Radio France). Haydn's La Passione de Haydn complements the programme.

Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme - Le Poème Harmonique

In this CD, Le Poème Harmonique presents Molière and Lully's Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme in the version offered to the King of France in 1670. Recorded in March 2021 at the Opera Royal du Château de Versailles, this disc gathers the soloists: Virgile Ancely, Cyril Auvity, Paul-Antoine Benos Djian, Geoffroy Buffière, Thibault De Damas, Serge Goubioud, Claire Lefilliâtre, Marc Mauillon, Nicholas Scott, David Tricou, Zachary Wilder and Eva Zaïcik.
